Yesterday, the W3C announced that Web Services Description Language (WSDL) 2.0 has achieved "recommendation status." You can see the press release here. This is great news!
Sun is a supporter of the WSDL 2.0 specification and in fact included its use in the Java Business Integration (JBI or JSR-208) specification. JBI and WSDL 2.0 support is being developed as part of project Open ESB. Sun is also exploring how to leverage WSDL 2.0 in future versions of Sun's Java(TM) Composite Application Platform Suite. In case you didn't know, JBI leverages the well-defined message exchange patterns in WSDL 2.0, promoting interoperability and ease of integration in heterogeneous environments to the benefit of our customers and partners.
Congratulations to the W3C Web Services Description Working Group!
