Continuing on the trend of Web 2.0 companies looking towards Sun for the technology that will set them up for success, Webzzle – a Web site dedicated to providing the “1-Click Web Explore” application – announced that it has selected Sun to help it build a secure and scalable open source Web infrastructure. The goal is that with Sun technology, Webzzle will be able to deliver ever-increasing volumes of explore results while also supporting the collaborative development and testing of new Webzzle services and applications. By turning to Sun and developing the service on an open source platform, Webzzle can give its end-users greater performance and a faster experience.
This is just one example of a Web 2.0 company that Sun has helped respond to the demand for rich user experience – another includes the recently announced Wikimedia. Fresh off the heels of this release, Webzzle is working to establish a ‘magic’ button, which users can install and then click from any Web page to get results from Webzzle and Wikipedia contributors in order to get simultaneous, re-engineered Google results.
