Hi All,
I have installed SXCE B113 on the AA1, AA1-10 and MSI netbooks.
I've just tested the new capability to set the volume mute, volume up and volume down Fn + key combinations via gnome-keybindings-properties.
The MSI and AA1's have different keyboards and key combinations, but they are all working now.
I've uploaded the gconf schema file here
You can install with gconftool-2 --install-schema-file=path_to_that_file, log out then log back in.
shift + F5 works to get you to an external display and back again.

Hi,
I don't see why all laptops and netbooks should not work.
I've just finished an install on a Acer Ferrari 4000 and they are working fine.
I'll try a clean install on this ECS laptop tonight

Hi All,
So I just installed B112 and the patch onto the ECS laptop.
The volume keys are in a different position on the keyboard than the AA1's or MSI.
I can use the gnome-keybindings-properties to map to the different keys.
Also the extra mute and volume slider are actually working also.

Hi Dave, thanks for these - installed & runs on my 9" AA1. Volume Keys plus mute & blank all fine. Fn F5 doesn't seem to switch monitors though. I'm running Nevada b111, thinking of jumping to OpenSolaris on the netbook to get the IPS function.

Hi Dave, I just tried this on a my Dell XPS M1530 running OpenSolaris 111a with very encouraging results. The volume keys for up and down work a treat as well as the eject function!
I'd like to configure the other keys to work which include:
- Mute
- Stop
- Play/Pause
- Forward
- Backward
How do these get configured in the schema?

Curious. The mute button is identified correctly by gnome-keybinding-properties when labeling a new key for mute. Under 'xev', the mute function is detected correctly by the window handler but no muting occurs. Volume up/down work correctly.
More curious is while the eject button works, it is not detected by gnome-keybinding-properties when labeling a new key?
gnome-keybinding-properties also didn't detect the stop/play/forward/back buttons when pressed.
Any ideas?

Yes, unless you are running one of the Toshiba's that we have just started selling, which has a special ACPI bridge.
What we see is what we get, sorry, nobody thought to make this all work yet.
They may continue, I'm not sure with the purchase by Oracle.

Just upgraded to b117 with the new version of Gnome - the mute key now works!
