So I've taken my knowledge of Solaris X86 and OpenSolaris just about as far as I can at this time.
Today I start learning Java.
I'll blog about it and you can correct me.
This should be fun, I've been putting it off for awhile.
Comments:
So, where are you starting? What's your approach going to be? I'm in a similar boat.

Hi,
It will be fun to learn together.
I've started by downloading and installing the latest JDK and Netbeans for OpenSolaris and Windows 7 Ultimate.
I plan to start at the beginning just writing some example programs and working my way up.
Luckily the guys that wrote the books on JavaFX and Java Real Time are in my team.
I'm going to work on the Acer Aspire One 11.6" under Windows 7 Ultimate and the Asus C90s with Nevada B124. See if everything really is platform independent.
I'm starting with the book "Sams Teach Yourself Java 6 in 21 Days" by Laura Lemay, I have it on my Kindle
