Hi All,
The engineering group in California got my One safely.
The slow start is being caused by the command /usr/sbin/zfs volinit call , in /lib/svc/method fs-usr and devices-local.
If you edit the two files and put & at the end of the lines the slow boot goes away.
Engineering still has my One and is looking for a correct patch.
Dave
Hi Dave,
I have been following your blog _very_ carefully as I want to buy this system.
When do you think everything will be integrated by ?
I would just like everything to run out the box no messing about. I saw that as you have one and are working for Sun it would be a good idea to get this model as it will be supported well with all your patches.
** Please do keep me updated on your status.
Regards,
Edward.

Hi,
I think the Intel Video will probably be soon, the Atheros I'm not sure (check my FTP site for fixed driver)
We are still working on the ZFS boot issue.
Once you have the laptop patched it works really well.
I'm getting a lot of support from the engineering group to make this work.

May I send my laptop to the engineering group as well? (;-)
Network interfaces don't work, even though rge0 is plumbed, wireless doesn't work, even though there's a package on opensolaris.org for the intel 5100 ChipSet. And of course, there is no sound...

No, but if you want to become and OEM and sell Solaris you can send it to me :-)

How does that work? Please elaborate!

Excellent blog.
Following your lead, and the blog at http://blogs.sun.com/observatory (concerning triple boot installation), I now have an Aspire One with XP Home, Ubuntu 8.10 and SXCE b101. Just in time for LISA '08 too. :-)

Hi,
Have you tried suspend / resume yet, I can get it to suspend, but it will not come out.
I'm going to luupgrade to B101a see if it's better.

Re: suspend
No, I haven't tried that yet. My primary objective right now is to add all software I need (SUNWspro, heaps of Perl modules) for my conference trip. After that I'll start to experiment more. Suspend, and definitely resume :-) are important features, and I really would like the built-in 3G HSDPA modem to work in SXDE too.
