The Sun PASIG in Malta June 24-26 was very successful. We had about 15 Sun attendees and over 100 customers and prospects. The presentations are being posted on a Stanford server and will be available mid-week. In addition, we intend to continue discussions via the PASIG website (www.sun-pasig.org) on the three working group topics; Repository Futures, Long-term Sustainability, and Cloud Computing.
Looking through the survey responses, 98% said they would attend another PASIG meeting. While some attendees felt the Cloud Computing presentations were not relevant, the majority of attendees had high interest in this area and wanted to hear more implementation details. There was a strong discussion thread growing on the use and sharing of repository materials, so we will set up webinar presentations in the coming months on this subject. Overall, attendees wanted hands-on, practical examples of successful projects and a roadmap of which standards are relevant and need to be developed more.
Joe Hartley, VP of Government, Education, and Healthcare, committed support for the next PASIG meeting. We are planning this to be in San Francisco October 8-9 in conjunction with the upcoming iPres meeting in San Francisco. We will be defining the agenda very soon.
Carl Grant, President of Ex Libris N. America, did a very good write up on the PASIG in his blog. This is at;
