Here is a draft agenda of what the PASIG advisory group and I are looking at for the next San Francisco PASIG, October 7-9. I am contacting some of the speakers this week, so please do not be shocked if you see your project below.
People who want to contribute should contact me by email if you want to present. I need a title and short abstract asap and I'll review it with my PASIG advisers. I want to have the semi-finished version of the agenda published in the next week.
This will be a busy week in October between the iPres and PASIG meetings. I am coordinating with the iPres organizing team to make sure we have highly aligned content with little or no duplication.
Sun and Oracle customers can also schedule 1-1 consulting sessions with Sun storage and product experts the afternoon of Friday, Oct.9. Key consultants will be at the PASIG, so please take advantage of this opportunity. Third party partners also have the opportunity to schedule 1-1 meetings and deep-dives Friday afternoon.
We will have the Westin St. Francis Hotel registration site up in the next several days for you to book your hotel. Rooms will be in the $200 range. PASIG fees will be in line with previous meetings; $100-$200 per customer. Details to follow.
DRAFT AGENDA
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 - PASIG Bootcamp
The PASIG Bootcamp is aimed at updating attendees on key community member projects, global best practices, and Sun and Oracle foundation technologies. We will be exposing and updating some of the top projects of interest over the last 2-3 PASIG meetings. Our goal is that this content will eventually be moved out of future meetings and will be provided modularly via PASIG webinars and on-line access. It is highly relevant to new attendees and those that could not attend Baltimore and Malta. A tentative agenda for this Bootcamp would include all or some of the following:
- Introduction to the PASIG
- Sun and Oracle Technology Overview - topics would include standards efforts, reference architectures, Storage Archive Manager (SAM) and Infinite Archive System (IAS), cloud computing, and an open archiving system and software technology update.
- Stanford Digital Repository
- Oxford U.
- National Library of New Zealand
- Family Search, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
- French National Library (BNF)
- DuraSpace and DuraCloud
