1. Sun "All About Repositories" Webinar - Wednesday, May 13 at 9:00am PT; 12:00pm ET
Topic: What to Expect at the 2009 Fourth Annual Conference on Open Repositories (OR09)

A broad range of OR09 topics span repository implementations for education, research, science, and cultural heritage. Tune in for a 60 minute preview of highlights from conference plenary presentations given by Dr. John B. Howard, OR09 Program Chair, Associate University Librarian, Arizona State University Libraries, who will discuss several themes represented in presentations and panels at this year’s conference, including: the role of repositories in emergent data management networks, repositories and the cloud, and strategies for innovation and sustainability in repository applications.
Art Pasquinelli from Sun Microsystems will give an overview of Sun's focus. Michele Kimpton and Sandy Payette will preview their OR09 activities and review the brand new announcement of DuraSpace, the combined organization formed from the DSpace Foundation and Fedora Commons merger.
2. Open Repositories 2009 (OR09) May 18-21, Atlanta
Sun will be one of the two Gold Sponsors at Open Repositories 2009. Please stop by at the event and visit us. Planned activities include:
- Table Booth with experts from our storage architectures, partner engineering, and product marketing groups. One-to-one architectural sessions can be scheduled at the meeting or by emailing art.pasquinelli@sun.com prior to the event.
- Two Poster Sessions: 1) Reference Architectures for End-to-End Open Repositories, 2) Fedora/Islandora Reference Architecture
- Weds., May 20 - 12:50pm-1:30pm Sun Box Lunch Presentation

3. Sun Preservation and Archiving Special Interest Group Malta Event, June 24-26
Note that the early bird special price ends on May 24!!!
We have about 70 attendees registered for this event and expect about 140. The agenda and registrant list can be seen at the website (www.sun-pasig.org). This is a unique opportunity to meet with selected Sun storage, HPC, and Web Services architects in addition to Joe Hartley, VP, Government, Education, and Healthcare and Marc Hamilton, VP High Performance Computing and Cloud Computing.
The final agenda will be published in the next day or two. It will include add-on meetings and abstracts.
