I am not a Doors mega fan but two albums of theirs L.A. Woman and the Soft Parade are very good. A lot of reports about the lead singer Jim Morrison not being dead are fanciful to say the least. For me the strange thing about him is his singing voice. Before he put a lot of weight on he was thin. When I hear a voice like his I think of a Joe Cocker type build which is odd. L.A. Woman has some wonderful tracks on it my favourite must be the title track. One line is memorable and goes "Cops in cars , topless bars...".I always thought he sang "Cops in cars , tappas bars". "Riders on the storm" the album's last track is also excellent. ( Feb 01 2005, 05:00:15 AM PST ) Permalink Comments [0]An awful thing happened in the village last week. I fear it is not unusual but when it happens in your own back yard it seems to make it worse. Someone who worked in the village was walking home. He wanted to cross the road so he used the pelican crossing. He started to cross when he got the green light. A car on the road driven by kids not old enough to drive blew him away. The word they use for this illegal use of a car I won't use here but it certainly did not inflict any joy on the man killed, his next of kin or if they have any morals or regret of their actions the kids in the car. In some countries we deem as uncivilised the criminals would suffer a harsh sentence. In our country I am sure this man's relatives will be appalled by the sentence these kids get. Of course they are under age to be sent to prison. In this world with all sorts of clever things being designed I cannot believe we cannot stop this. Biometric readers in cars so the car will only work when an authorised person try to use it. Of course the real problem is the legacy cars that will be around for years to come even if these readers were installed in all cars now. As we consider the sixty year anniversary of Auschwitz this program has been an excellent reminder of those terrible events it makes me think that Dolphins are not only as smart as us but are smarter ( Feb 01 2005, 12:01:04 AM PST ) Permalink Comments [0] |
