A good detective find - Peter Robinson books. Friends of ours lent me a book by an author called Peter Robinson , the book's title was The summer that never was. I have just finished reading it. Finding this author has opened up the possibility of at least fifteen new books I can go out and buy (having enjoyed this book). Without potentially spoiling it for anyone the style has the depth of Ian Rankin but with all the rough bits sanded off. In fact the style is similar to Henning Mankell so if you like these Robinson's books will go down well. The books feature a separated police inspector Banks whos holiday is interupted by the discovery of his schooldays friends body, missing since 1965. The book then follows two parallel stories the second of which has a modern day schoolboy going missing. Banks is involved in both investigations both which feature female police staff who... well that would be telling.. Both plots are enjoyable and I suspect I will read this book again when I have the others in the series (reading them in order of publication of course). Peter Robinson was born in Yorskshire but now resides in Canada. ( Oct 27 2005, 12:00:01 AM PDT ) Permalink Comments [0]
