Now where have I seen you before ?

When I first worked at Sun I was in the Watchmoor Park office. I had three jobs in that building, one upstairs and two on the ground floor. Over those five years I got to know a lot of people. For expansion reasons we moved to one of Sun's other offices and we had five years there. Initially we shared the building with other Sun folks but when the new campus opened we were left on our own. Although we all visited the new campus it was a very occasional event.

Late last year we moved to the new campus. Although we do spend a lot of time in one building we do walk to the other two for various reasons. I find it interesting when I see people I remember but I cannot recall their name. The English get all embarassed at the stage and try and avoid potential further embarrassment by not making contact. But I am curious on what these people now do, so I speak to them. They usually remember me and we have a chat and find out what we are both doing.

This all reminds me of something a teacher in my secondary school said during one of our last classes. He said "this class has gone through five years of education pretty much as an intact group". "When you leave this school you will never be together as a group ever again". He was right. Out of the thirty odd boys in that class I am still in touch with one. I have no idea what the others are doing. It would be interesting to know and there are many sites that bring people from school back together. I am not so sure about the wisdom of this. I think I would like to know but nothing else. Selfish maybe but thats the English in me.

I too am in touch with only one person from my class at school. I've been invited to a couple of year-group reunions, but although I'd be interested in knowing what the people in my class had become, that's all I'd want to know. 25 years is a lot of water under the bridge
