Adventure builder Application module for NetBeans 5.0 Sun Bluperints team develops many useful J2EE applications that show good patterns and uses interesting technology. This applications are very valuable for J2EE newcomer. I was playing with Adventure builder application, that is on of the complex projects that are avalaible in Blueprints catalog.

Let's start with a brief explanation of the Adventure Builder applications from a high-level perspective. The adventure builder enterprise provides customers with a catalog of adventure packages, accommodations, and transportation options. From a browser, customers select from these options to build a vacation. After assembling the vacation package, the customer clicks the submit order option. The customer Web site builds a purchase order and sends it to the order processing center (OPC). The order processing center, which is responsible for fulfilling the order, interacts with its internal departments, the bank(financial institution), and suppliers to complete the order. In essence, the adventure builder enterprise consists of a front-end customer Web site, which provides a face to its customers, and a back-end order processing center, which handles the order fulfillment processing. Additionally there is a bank and three suppliers.

You can download source from mentioned link. The project consists of several J2EE applications, many shared libraries and ant's build script that setups DB, JMS resources, builds and deploys all applications. I was trying to import this project in NetBeans but we don't support full J2EE applications with existing Ant script. One of my colleague Reddy Poreddy projectized these projects. Thanks, PCM.
Then, I was able to open all projects in NetBeans and work with them as normal J2EE projects. However, I thought that could be useful for other NB users to get these samples avalaibe in NetBeans Update center. I created NetBeans module that includes all Adventure Builder App projects and user can download it from here, install in NetBeans and try it.

Now, I would like to describe steps how to build and test Adventure Builder Application in NetBeans 5.0: Enjoy the Adventure builder project in NetBeans. Posted by pblaha ( Nov 01 2005, 04:24:43 PM CET ) Permalink Comments [2]
