My mother in law gave me a sweatshirt with the complaint "So many books, So little time" and how true it is. Naturally I read my share of technical manuals, but for enjoyment I have been reading historical fiction lately. My favorites have been from the Roman period. First, Lindsey Davis has a great series of novels starring Marcus Didius Falco, the emperor Vespasian's chief fixer/detective/spy. Then Colleen McCullough, author of the Thornbirds miniseries, did a series of novels on Julius Ceasar. On my doctor's recommendation I am switching historical periods and reading some of Bernard Cornwell's novels on the Napoleanic wars.
