Patrick Curran

Patrick Curran at W3C Technical Plenary, 2005 I've worked in the software industry for more than 20 years, and at Sun Microsystems since 1992.

I'm currently the Chair of the Java Community Process (JCP) – the Java standards organization – and director of the JCP's Program Management Office. Before this I managed the team that was responsible for developing conformance test suites (Technology Compatibility Kits, or TCKs) for Java SE and Java ME.

As an active member of the W3C's Quality Assurance Working group I contributed to several documents on the theory and practice of conformance testing. I'm currently co-chair of the OASIS Test Assertions Guidelines Technical Committee.

In a previous life I was an economic historian, specializing in the origins and growth of industrial capitalism.
