Solaris 10 Wireless Update

Just about to close down my laptop after the first day running the latest build of the wireless driver (IPW2100) for my Toshiba Tecra M2. So far it seems much better behaved than the previous build. Excellent. :)

You'll all be able to get the source code for the driver here in the near future.

Good news. Now that Solaris is open source I was thinking of doing a driver wrapper like ndiswrapper or the one from BSD. It seems that this could help Solaris leaverage all those vendor supplied drivers for Windows and spearhead it into the laptop arena. Bad news though. I tried to install Solaris Express and the official release on my Dell CPx 500, but I got IRQ 11 conflict from Grub and the Sun installer. The installations hang right afterwards. There isn't much in the way of BIOS tweaking. I disable just about everything with no success. Too bad... this was to be my portable Solaris development machine.

Hi. Nice to see that the ipw2100 is actually working with Solaris! I'm off to a conf. in Canada later this summer - Any chance that the driver might be released by mid August? Or is it possible to be one of the guys who test it even before that? I'm using Solaris 10 on a Dell Precision M60.
