Web 2.0 in person party - the result

Yesterday we celebrated our Web 2.0 in person party

It was kind of a people and topic mesh-up of

  • House warming party
  • Art vernissage with Reinhard Schmid (check out his site )
  • my birthsday (yes I know  I am looking older but I  just turned 45...)
  • IC framework partner event

We had over 50 people joining the party and I enjoyed the event very much..

Check out the photo gallery

Some examples of paintings created by Reinhard Schmid

Also I got a VERY nice toy as a birthday gift - a Squeezebox

It is a linux based box which delivers audio from the Internet to your HiFi system.

It has an open source community around it which builds extension like games, interfaces to
other systems etc.

And it can also display RSS feeds while it plays your favorite MP3 songs.

I can now see real time the Sun bloggers RSS feed while I am listening to music in the living room

Thanks everyone for attending the party!!

Tags in analog and digital TV content

Today I attended the launch of Digisuisse Switzerland which is the successor  of the Interactive TV Consortium in Switzerland . The goal of the forum is to bring together content, technology and network providers around the digital multimedia world to exchange ideas and to do a lot of (relationship) networking. Sun is a founding member of the iTV Consortium and Digisuisse Switzerland. We had around 70 people attending . Great Job DigiSuisse team!!

NZZ Format  talked about the trends & challenges  in digital content creation

Swiss Television  presented an overview of their  complete content production, delivery and archiving life cycle

Cablecom the largest cable provider in Switzerland just announced a massive price cut for their digital TV box
(Thanks to  Swisscom for launching  nation wide WebTV  in competition to Digital TV :-) )

Bakom talked about the status of the new Radio/TV regulation and also  mentioned that due to technology improvement  Switzerland can  now have  eight  Digital Radio  (DAB) licenses instead of three

And last but not least there were a great speech about the confusion of the endusers regarding all these new standards like HDTV, BlueRay, HDMI etc.....

What was most interesting to me was that all content producers and broadcasters spent a lot of time and effort to tag their content.

As example if you need a red Ferrari driving through Zurich scene, just type in the keyword "red ferrari, Zürich"  and the content which such a scene shows up...

What if this tagging databases would be public and we could merge it with the Web 2.0 folksonomy
or do a mashup with google earth or build a follksonomy IPG (interactive Programming Guide.).....   hmm.. could be very interesting

After the presentation I met Robert Weiss, one of the best known  Computer Experts in Switzerland and the publisher of the yearly IT  trend book  called  Weissbuch

Also I had dinner with the CEO from futureLAB, a small but very innovative software company in Switzerland. They just released a free  online tool  called  Tourist Remover which removes unwanted moving objects like tourists or passing cars from photos.Very cool  . Check it out ! http://www.snapmania.com/info/en/trm/
