Rekindled passion
At my friend's wedding I had the privileged to run with him the morning of his wedding day. It was so great to run with a dear friend and do what built our friendship. My friend is a role model of determination and commitment. I admire him greatly and I am very amazed at what he has accomplished.
Over the years my training has slowly tapered off as life responsibilities squeezed out my time for running. After running with my friend several weeks ago, I began realized that I am made to run and a regular training routine is good. I think of Eric Liddell, the Olypical 400m Gold medalist from the 1924 Olympics, who said, "I believe God made me for a purpose...when I run I feel His pleasure". My passion for the sport was rekindled.
My last race and consistent training was far too long ago - June 2004, Escape from Alcatraz Triathalon. See my next blog entry for that story. For now the journey to fitness begins. Time to enjoy the pleasure that God must feel knowing that I am using the gift he has given to me.
