EFF in canada
this EFF announcement just landed in my mailbox. i am very pleased
about it.
EFF in Canada: Protect Your Northern Rights!
EFF is pleased to announce that we are strengthening our
work in Canada. We'll be tracking issues like Bill C-60
(copyright reform), "lawful access" (privacy and surveillance),
and other digital rights issues that matter to Canadians.
Ren Bucholz, EFF's Policy Coordinator in the Americas, is
now based in Toronto, Ontario, where he'll be following
these developments full time. If you're interested in
staying up-to-date on EFF's work in Canada, sign up for

mass effect (open document)
massachusetts enterprise technical reference model is now
final.
i really could not care less about what microsoft does, but i would be interested to see when apple
will release a version of appleworks that
supports the open document format.

in support of google print...
i strongly support the google print project. i think the authors guild's legal attack against
google is deeply misguided and intellectually bankrupt, and i root for its swift
demise.
So too should common sense revolt at the claims of this law suit. --

state of the onion: cooked
wohoo. another
state of the onion full of wall-idation. just imagine the
excitement around python and ruby circles for their yearly dose of comic
relief. my favorite observation:
Cats know how to get into and out of places they're not supposed to be able to get into and out of. Cats seem to know how to levitate, and to pass through supposedly impermeable barriers. Even the stupidest cat knows how to make you think they're reading your mind, but it's all a trick.
[one good thing about larry is that even when he is obscure, thin and
fragmented [read deep], he is still funnier and somewhat wiser
than people like
graham.]
