5 Years at Sun...

...and this swanky new watch to prove it!

Well...its swanky to me at least. My last watch was about $18.

Also, keep this in mind, this is huge. Five years is longer than I was married! My previous longest term commitment was to IBM, a total of 7 years (besides my family...).

I could reminisce about all of the great times at Sun but, really, 5 years isn't that long! I've had some great managers (not a single dud in the bunch), I've had wonderful projects, I've had some great teams. There have DEFINITELY been some rocky times but that's to be expected.

Thanks Sun! I realize you sent me the watch as a thank you gift, but it really is a privilege to work for a good company. Hopefully you'll have me around for another 5

I already had a watch ... for my five years with Sun, I took the golf bag, which has been a wonderful addition to my game in the two years since then :-).

Speaking of marriage, my wife and I just celebrated 33 years last July, and my first professional job in software development preceeded that by a month -- amazing what the responsibilities of getting married does to your priorities :-).

Thanks! And congratulations on 33 years, that is astounding in this day and age!

I looked at the golf bag but didn't get it, I haven't played at all this year and I'm sure having a nice golf bag would set expectations so high when I did play that I would biff it even worse ;-) Now, if they threw in some lessons with that golf bag...maybe that's in the 10 year package :-)

Did you get a certificate as well? I never did for mine a couple of years ago, but rumour has it I was supposed to :/
