Another Mega developer event in India

Yes, Sun tech day is scheduled in Hyderabad, India this week from Feb 27th to Feb 29th.

Sun SOA technologies discussed in various sessions and demoed in multiple pavilion pods.  Refer the following link for a detailed Agenda.

http://www.sercononline.com/suntechdays08/home.htm

It is one of the high energy developer activity in India.  Last year over 10000 (yes it is TEN THOUSAND !!! ) developers participated in the event.  This year also a similar size is expected.  As it is any one's guess the size is comparable to Java ONE event that takes place in SFO every year.

It is my pleasure to take part in the event and have the opportunity to interact with excited developers around in the event.  I am also scheduled to speak in 2 sessions - Open ESB and Enterprise Mashups. We also have a partner session (Accenture) for GlassFish day. Our premier partner Accenture will be discussing their perception of SOA, their SOA practices and how Java CAPS is helping them achieve their vison.

If you havent planned yet to attend the event, you still have chance to register for the event.  Click here to go to the main event page and click on register.  Stop by, familiarize yourself with the cutting edge technologies that are being developed at Sun's R&D factory as well be part of the energetic crowd around there.

End of HD-DVD... Can now clearly see a blue ray at the end of the tunnel

The brighter side is its a win for Java enthusiasts.  Yes, BR technology includes java in it. Too bad, Toshiba didnt include java in their machine.

I feel happy that I chose to buy a blue-ray player a little while ago.  I feel relieved that that I can now expect to see all my favorite movies to be lined up in BR.

Its unfortunate for thousands of people who went for HD player considering how cheap they were.  I am sure they knew what they were getting into. I wish Toshiba had offered some kind of compensation for those folks.

It is interesting and indeed a good thing for consumers that this format war is over.  While consumer confidence is so low and the global economy is fearing recession (certainly not China and India), it is no good for anyone to sustain this war.  I think it is a smarter move from Toshiba to abandon the ship.  They saved themselves a whole lot of money that they would have lost over several years. Betamax Vs VHS war went on for 10+ years.  Its a big jolt for speculators who were hoping for the same length of war.

Seems like Sony learnt a lot from its Betamax support failure.  Now here is the new winner who was a big loser in the past.

Anyways... I am happy that I made the right decision to back BR :)

10 great things about Open ESB

Here is something I found useful for all those who brave about Open ESB....

Project Open ESB is an Open Source implementation extends
the Java Business Integration (JBI) runtime as specified by
JSR-208 to create a multi-vendor open ESB The Open ESB is
based on multiple instances of JBI, which are linked by a
proxy-binding, based on Java Message Service.

The Open ESB project also is designed to be extensible,
including a variety of JBI plug-in components, including a
SOAP-over-HTTP binding component, and business process
service.

Now, the Top 10 Project Open ESB Benefits.

1. Open Source: Open ESB is developed in the open-source
community - because of this it can leverage the strength of
a vibrant developer community enabling enhancement and
contribution that add value.

2. Open Standards: the components on Open ESB communicate
based on open standards such as web services and WS-*
specifications as opposed to other ESB's that use a
proprietary bus.

3. Interoperability: Components that plug into Open ESB can
come from different contributors/vendors both open-source
and commercial enabling companies to use best of breed to
build their applications.

4. Interoperability: JBI based communication mechanism
eliminates "stove-pipe" integration issue between
containers.

5. Extensible: pluggable service technologies,pluggable
external bindings based on the JBI standard are what allow
an Open ESB ecosystem to be built up both from open-source
and commercial best of breed components working together.

6. Wealth of language support - through its wealth of
Service Engine components pluggable into the ESB Open ESB
supports development in a wide variety of languages -
allowing developers to pick "the best language for the job"
- whether it is Java, BPEL, SQL, Scripting etc.

7. Fully featured IDE: Open ESB comes with a wealth of
tooling to build and manage applications on the ESB that is
pluggable and is fully integrated into the Netbeans IDE.

8. Composite Applications: Open ESB can be used to create
and run SOA based Composite Applications that include any
of the pluggable components mentioned above.

9. Clustering: Fully integrated into the GlassFish Cluster
Support and allows component level clustering strategies
also.

10. Augments Java EE: bi-directional bridge allows to
include and call Java EE artifacts in Composite
Applications, calling JBI services from Java EE. This
allows Java EE developers to leverage their existing
knowledge and step into the realm of Composite Application
development using the wealth of programming languages
available in Open ESB.

Dare to Change !!!!

Jonathan Swartz, our beloved CEO of Sun Microsystems finally set a new trend in how the business results are propagated to public.

How else ?  Through his blog and through Sun's website.

Why always hang on to the traditional press / analyst briefing and use that channel to send messages ?  Lets change the way we communicate with the world, as long as we maintain the spirit and integrity.

What channel can be better than communicating with vested people directly ?

Jonathan broke that tradition and set a new trend....

Who said Sun doesnt raise ?

Checkout Q4 results of Sun Microsystems that just got released....

We not only met the expectation... but almost doubled it...Hurray.....
