My home page and my other blog

If somebody wants to check my stuff, please visit my home page www.pythonprasanna.com. The contents in it are not updated regularly, but they may definitely be useful. Long before I hosted my page in a free shell, but paid the price for not paying! When it was well ranked by Google and had good hits, the service disappeared. The moral is if you want to share useful content, you should pay :) BTW is blogs.sun.com my first appearance to blogging world? Not really.
Comments:

I am regular reader of Peter Norvig's blog. He speaks a lot about Python. Maybe, you should also pay a visit there. Also, there is some interesting and very useful stuff regarding weblogging. I will come back and post. Patience ka phal meetha hota hai mate! :) PS: Could you please provide your email-id? Posting it here is not a good idea...I will try sending the pdf to you.

In today's column in one of telugu daily, Imran Khan was getting bored about the length/duration of this world cup. I wonder, did he - or anyone from sub-continent - feel bore, if India/Pak were playing now? I am afraid, these guys do not like cricket at all. I say, Oh..oye! tussi must have watched Aussies knocking out Ireland ji! I don't know why people say cricket is religion here. If it would have been, we would have seen some different situation. Here I see craziness, not religion. Perhaps, we should teach cricket as part of curriculum in pre-school. Caz, sometimes..manytimes..I hear weird comments from my fellow beings, lacking complete basics of the sport. And finally, can't we see how "craziness/insanity" is driving the entire world into hell? If it were "religion", we would have been living in peace, as we were earlier....till a few years ago. Pch! :(

The organizers did everything to ensure an Indo - Pak game on April 15th, but it's a great coincidence that both the teams doesn't respond . Probably the ICC should have had play off games for 9 - 16th places like hockey World cup so that the teams which lost the race can still hang on till the end of the World cup to fight for the rest of the places.

Atleast such a move would have gladdened the hearts of some of the fans who paid to see these teams in action and also for television viewers and sponsors (for sponsors it's a Win- Win situation). Now it's too late, but may be implemented for the next WC.

Sorry to post this comment here..never mind! "Australia just too good for anyone. Not one team has bothered them all tournament. You're going to need a lot to beat this team, A-game, B-game, call if what you will. Dismissed Sri Lanka cheaply, knocked off the runs without breaking a sweat, and I want to see what team beats Australia." - Jamie Alter, www.cricinfo.com I too want to see what team beats Australia. I'll probably never forget that match, if I see.

And Ricky Ponting's game is similar to that of Roger Federer in Tennis. To beat Australia you need to become an Australia or else admit "We lost to a better (sorry the best) team".

What Imran is pointing out is a real problem. The format is heavily tampered to ensure that inconsistent sub-continent teams get as many chances to hit form as possible. What is the point in having a round robin format in super 8s? The key to beating australia is good swing bowling which unfortunately is a scarcity everywhere including australia due to the dead pitches. We need more Akrams and Imrans.

Not really. The key to beat Australia is a side with quality spinners and a pitch which will have bounce and spin (Remember 2001 series in India). If Aussies are vulnerable to swinging conditions, probably England may have won several Ashes series.

Provided England themselves can play swing well. Remember, England didn't win the Ashes in 2005 with quality spinners but quality reverse swing. Aussies are not good at playing spinners in minefields but if the conditions are at acceptable levels, they can combat it very well. Care to remember the last Border-Gavaskar trophy in India?

Well, the key to beat Aussies is a side with good batting, good fielding, good bowling, good spin.. uh oh..after all..good cricket, got it? Above all, I would definitely recommend, "the attitude to win". Yes, you should believe and say - "If not me, who will win?" That's the difference. It takes lot of practice to say and believe like that. Perhaps, James Gosling would say that in Java, Dennis would say that in C... You should be able to create standards. Not just follow them! Recently, when they were playing with South Africa, the SA were really good at opening. Now see the attitude of Aussies...they have come so closer to pitch that Smith was frightened and was also a bit hurt twice and finally had to retire only to make SA lose the game. That's the attitude of winning. Aussies have tried all ways to keep out Smith, but after failing in such attempts they played the above trick and finally were successful. Did they violate any game rules? No! See Ponting...he has the "book of rules" in brain..and he was so fast to execute his trick. Oh god! how dedicated they are to cricket! They definitely defined a new standard..its upto you to follow and master it..else..the old story of :( :( :(( I wonder if Sachin/Dravid/Ganguly/Gavaskar or anyone from India made such/atleast one standard of "do or die"! I dont like calling someone "master" just because you know everything. They have to create something new..set some new standard..to be called as "leader"/"master" or whatever best you wish to call. Federer...oh...hez simply a wonder. Watch him..Im sure, we have lot of things to learn from him! Well, finally, what I would like to say is...if we are able to do 100%..why not try 110%? Maybe, we would be called "prodigy" and don't we like to be called so? :)

Oh, I missed something...do you guys forget Warne? I think hez a spin bowler. ;) And with him in side, I don't think they have trouble facing spin. A major problem for teams, especially those coming from very cool environments, is to get themselves adapted to our climate and it takes lot of time. I am sure about this. I lived in Sweden for about 3 years, where it goes around -15 to +20 and not more. Now that Iam in India, I am facing lot of problems in adapting, though I was born and brought up here. But, fortunately, I didn't face much trouble in getting adapted to their climate. Conclusion - cold climates are easy to adapt when compared with hotter, atleast for us. So, I can understand if such teams are losing in India and there might be such reasons too! Not that they technically aren't good.

Hey guys! Im just too excited to see that my wishes are coming true in this worldcup. Wow! Exactly the four teams I wish are now in semi-finals. Feeling bit too good. ;;) Im still undecided about final, but one of them is my fav..Aussies. And for the other, Im unable to favour NZ of SA, caz I like them both equally. Though, few times, I get irritated when I see how SA downplay themselves. Iam sure, if therz some team to kill the Aussies standards/perhaps set new ones, itz definitely going to be SA, if they become "consistent".

The problem is our cricketers were not mentally strong with the exception of Yuvraj (these days).

Regarding WC, I am very disappointed that England couldn't make it, they were a 10 member squad with Michael Vaughan ensuring that he will be the non playing captain (in the 11's) at the sake of compromising on an extra batsman. I remember Mark Taylor was once made to sit in the ODI series during the South African tour despite being the captain. Thats the difference between Australia and other sides.

In short the following sides put up a dismal show.

India and Pakistan - Just a day of madness against Bangladesh and Ireland respectively.
West Indies - They are not even 10% of the WI team during the early 1980s. I believe Richards, Micheal Holding and co should be deeply hurt that the current WI team totally buried the great reputation they brought to WI Cricket. It's in a state similar to Indian Hockey.
