Comments:

I was vaguely looking into how we could use sunrays here, and there are a few things I am not sure about. How do graphics work? More precisely, since the server basically sends a bitmap to the user, the server should be able to use graphics cards to help with the rendering, the client should not notice anything is different. So we would need servers where we can stick several graphics cards. Are all the Xorg extensions available? I know that some applications we use won't run without xkeyboard and glx (but they don't need fast graphics so glx can be done in software), and we also needed an other one but I can't remember the name. Would directX work as well on windows? When a user disconnects from a client, his session keeps running I believe. In cases where you start some computation, this is fine, but in most cases this means some flash animation in the browser you left running will suck resources, which is bad when there are many users that don't connect often. Is there an option to simply dump the session state on disk, and reload it when the user comes back? I guess so, otherwise a server reboot would lose all the sessions, I am just checking.
