Sun CEC 2005
Half way through the event, every indicator shows employees are satisfied. overwhelming attendance on most breakout sessions, massive participation on the general sessions.
Technical content is quite good, and some key speakers are getting the
most attention, like Andy Bechtolscheim, who had to replay his
presentation in this morning general session, due to the number of
attendees who got locked out of his breakout when the room got
extremely full.
Not surprisingly, more than a few presentations and demos are around
the N1 Service Provisioning System, which is deemed to become the
cornerstone of the Grid Computing age to come, and of the Utility
Computing paradigm Sun is starting to unfold.
Also, Solaris 10 is not news anymore, and that's just OK, because Sun
technical staff has been actively speaking about this among peers and
with our customers for months now. This effort has paid out, with an
impressive 650,000 donloaded licences so far.
Most presentations did have Solaris 10 content, but with so much said
and done around the new, revolutionary OE, it's become common and fully
accepted within the Service community.
More news to follow tomorrow...
