Trackday report - Brands Indy July 18th 2005 I've finally finished my trackday writeup - if you fancy a look, click here ( Jul 19 2005, 02:04:57 PM GMT+00:00 )Permalink Comments [0]A scorcher of a race weekend!! Oddly it feels like ages ago since I was watching the racing - yesterday was such a busy day on track for me! I'll try and remember what happened... So, we turned up Friday night, round about 9, unloaded the bikes and sorted the van ready with the bed etc. We'd managed to get a space with everyone (thanks guys Up and about by around 8, and it's hot outside already! The guys go out for practice, and all is well. Loz and Greville are out in race 2, but she pulls in after the warm up lap, as her clutch lever is sticking - not good!! It's Greville first race out for a long time - he broke his hand in the first round at Snetterton this year in March, and has been battling trying to get it strong again all year. It was *great* to see you out there again Grev The next set of races go without incident - results wise:
Unfortunately for me, *I* had an incident! I managed to twist my ankle pretty badly while jumping down from the pit wall. Ouch!! It swelled up like a golf ball We had a lovely evening, gathered by Conrad and Ang's caravan out in the warm evening having a BBQ and wine. Very chilled, and a good laugh. Lots of people stopped by to say hi, and I met some new faces, which is always nice Next morning and my ankle has become somewhat less swollen, but I still can't put all my weight on it. It is better than it was though, and I'm hoping that another 24 hours will do the trick. By 9 o' clock it's even hotter than it had been the day before. I was mighty glad I didn't have to get into my leathers!! Another good day's racing, Greville built on his 11th, and finished a fantastic 9th in his first and 14th in his second race. I have to say Grev, really big respect mate, you did amazingly well given this weekend has been your first time out on a bike in many months, I'm really proud of you!! Loz worked hard in her first race, but was finding that she just wasn't having fun out there, so decided to call it a day and miss her second race. Nige had a *fanastic* pair of 3rd place finishes, and was rightly over the moon - well done Nige, you were superb!! Conrad, after a solid 14th in race one, didn't have such a good second race. He came off out the back of the circuit on the last lap, having missed a gear at a particularly inoppurtune place (not that there's a good place to do that...). Thankfully he's ok, just bruised, and he's reaggravated the thumb injury he got in the last crash. It's not broken though - good news. The bike actually came off well too - at a glance on the screen and a bit of the top fairing is broken, so it should be straightforward to fix ready for the next outing. We got everyone packed up, and then everyone left - with me staying on overnight on my own ready for the track day in the morning. It was a bit weird waving goodbye to them all and me standing alone in the garage!! Still, I had work to do on the bike, so plenty to be getting on with. I'll be writing up the track day shortly...it was a blinder of a day!
