Robin Wilton's esoterica

Remind me... which ones are the fundamentalists?

It's strange, but I thought I lived in a dis-establishmentarian parliamentary democracy. OK, so I spent all my history lessons either doodling or gnawing the edge of the desk as a displacement activity, but the faint wisp of a memory somehow persists: in the UK there is a separation of Church and State. Admittedly, it's not as fanatical as in the States... (more on that another time, perhaps), but I do find it bizarre to have God waved in my face, so to speak, on an issue of foreign policy. Then there's my personal view, which is that statements of the form "God told me to x" have to be treated very carefully. Their meaning is not as straightforwardly determined as, for example, statements of the form "George told me to x", or "Gordon told me to x"... to pick, at random, two other names which happen to begin with "G".
