openLiberty has arrived

The Liberty Alliance has followed a logical trajectory in its work, starting with the Federation Framework (ID-FF) for account linking and single sign-on/sign-off, and working its way up the functional stack to web services and beyond. One of the challenges that introduces is that 'federation adoption' and 'web services adoption' are very different beasts, and require different care and feeding if they are to grow and thrive.

In that context, I think the new openLiberty site and community resources are an excellent thing. Here's where to go, for code, specs, forums, wikis and so on.

Something I really like about Sun

Gerry Beuchelt -> me -> James Governor -> Jonathan Schwartz -> Greg Papadopoulos...

There aren't many circumstances in which my name would appear in such exalted company, but this is one of the things I really like about Sun. Our CEO, CTO and even our CPO are all prepared to chip in and play along with the '5 things' meme. It's good to have 3-dimensional execs   ;^)
