I'm not sure I understand this latest move from British Airways; they're going to impose a distinction between people who pack their hold luggage into one bag, and people carrying exactly the same weight of luggage in two bags. From Feb. 13th, the second bag will cost you
- £60 for a domestic flight
- £120 for a short-haul flight
- £240 for a long-haul flight.
Apparently this is part of a 'simpler checked and excess baggage policy'. It will apply across the board. Except flights to the US, Canada, the Caribbean, Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico. Or if you 'can't easily manage one bag'. Simple.
It will also, they say, help create 'the best possible airport experience before you fly'. Hmmm. For £240 I think that would take more than just relieving me of two pieces of luggage.
