I put this map together last Friday when I was the only person in my group in the Menlo Park office. It shows the approximate location of each member of the team- be sure to zoom out to world view to get the whole picture.

The bay area campuses used to be considered headquarters, I don't remember the last time I heard anyone refer to it as that. Between the OpenWork program and hiring abroad, it'll seem weird if we ever go back to a "headquarters" mentality.

Comments:

Working in a internationally distributed team brings up new challenges that otherwise don't exist or are not significant.

I used to work in a small team that had at least one member on almost each continent of the world. That was a very interesting experience.

The time zones, difference in cultures and habits and different holidays was just a very few of the challenges that such a team has to face.

Some of the targets seem off when you zoom in. Allen and Alex are in the salt flats, while you're somewhere near Raytheon.

Heh. The actual locations are partly obscured because I'm a privacy nut, partly so all of the pins didn't overlap on top of each other and just look like one pin.

interesting perspective....I started my own blog today, and am trying to understand how to collect comments on my opinions and possible research efforts inside Sun.
