I've published two additional papers to BigAdmin. Similar to the X4500 + EBS/NBU papers posted earlier, these papers show how to use Sun's new JBODs with Solaris/ZFS and Disk Backup.

Check them out

Sun Storage J4400 Array as Disk Storage for Symantec Veritas NetBackup 6.5 Software

Sun Storage J4400 Array as Disk Storage for Sun StorageTek Enterprise Backup Software 7.4

The papers' examples show the 24-disk J4400, but all the theory and operation would apply to the 12-disk J4200 as well. You'd just have half the storage.

Enjoy.

Hi!

I'm reading your paper about J4400 with Netbackup 6.5 and I think there might be a mistake where you mix the MBits/sec and the MBytes/sec. On page 5 you say that you need multiple gigabit nics to be able to handle a 450Mbit/sec backup speed but one gigabit nic would be sufficient. You also mention the J4400 should be able to handle speed of 250 to 300Mbits which to me seems a bit to slow ;)

Thanks for reading.

You are right, during editing we went from MB/s to Mbits/sec and I missed flagging it to MBytes/sec.

The docs at BigAdmin have been updated to reflect MBytes/sec, not MBits/sec.
