Sun Tech Days 終了! (Festival is over)
3 日間にわたる Sun Tech Days が終了しました。来てくださったみなさん、ありがとうございました。
三日目も私たちのブース「オープンソースの日本語化に参加者募集!」には、たくさんの方々が訪れてくれました。まだ最終的に集計はしていないのですが、多かった質問は、
- 各プロジェクトへの要望 : どう進めていくのかビジョンが見たい
- 日本語化への興味: 参加してみたいが、どうすればいいか ?
- 翻訳支援ツールへの興味: 翻訳メモリーって、なに ?
だという印象を受けました。私たちからもっと働きかけていかないといけないなぁと実感。今日はオフィスを不在にしていた三日間の業務で (ひとりで) 大騒ぎしていますが、来週からは、次の一歩を踏み出すべく、がんばっていこうと思っています。
Jim が一日目の写真とレポートをアップしていますね。わたしは OpenSolaris のオープニングで 2 分だけ時間をもらって、日本語化の活動を紹介しました。

Thank you very much for visiting our pod (exhibition booth). Three days of our Sun Tech Days are over and I am so happy that I could talk to many people about localization/translation!
Just like the second day, many people came to talk to us on the third day. Our pod title was "Help wanted! Let's localize open-sourced software together". I have not looked into the records of our talk yet, but I guess the top three of the comments and questions are as follows:
- Request to each project: Want to know Sun's vision
- Interest in localization: Want to join, but not sure how
- Interest in translation tools: What is Translation memory ?
They made me realize again how important it is to send more messages more effectively to those who are interested in the open source software. I promise I will work on them as soon as I finish the emails piled up in my mailbox ... next week!
Jim posted Sun Tech Days report and photos for the 1st day. I made 2-minute speech at the OpenSolaris Opening and introduced what Japanese community is doing."Join us!"
