査読コメント for OpenSolaris (Review comments for OpenSolaris)

OpenSolaris の開発プロセスに初めて査読コメントをもらいました。ありがとうございます！「コンソリデーション」の意味がわかりませんというのがあって、「わたしもそうだったんです!」と共感しました。consolidation は単語としての意味は「統合」などですが、ドキュメントには OpenSolaris consolidations という言葉がしょっちゅう出てきます。訳は「コンソリデーション」を使っているのですが、それでも意味がわかりません。

社内のエンジニアに確認してみたところ、
FAQ にあるように、

Operating System/Networking (ON) の他に、X Window System (X11)、Java

だそうです。この訳注を、開発プロセスにも入れようかと思っています。

Yea! We have the first review comment on
OpenSolaris Development Process. Thank you so much, Shimomura san. One of his comments "What is consolidation?" made me relieved that I am not the only one who does not understand that term. Consolidation means "integrated base" literally, but used so frequently in the OpenSolaris documents and I wondered what exactly it means here.

So, I asked one of Sun Solaris engineer. He kindly pointed the footnotes which he added to the English contents actually:

FAQ says:



^1 Footnote: Consolidation means the core including key features.  

There are 

Operating System/Networking (ON) consolidations, X Window System (X11), Java

Desktop (JDS), Documentation (Docs), Globalization Support (G11N).
