直訳の方がまだいいのでは
ないかな〜、と思う翻訳の話。
練習問題:
次の項目の中から、この製品の特長をもっともよく表しているものを 2 つ
選んでください。ヒント: ログインプロセスと操作手順が違うことを考慮
してください。
どこが違うでしょうか ?
....
....
....
ログインプロセスと操作手順が違う ? 当たり前じゃないですか。ログインプロセスと操作手順が同じわけないよね... と思って英語を見ると、
Assessment:
Please select two options which best describe the feature
of this new product from the following options.
Tips: Consider the different login process and administration
procedure.
そういうことですか。。。login process と administration procedure が different なのではなくて、他の製品とは、この 2 つが different なのね。これだったら「異なるログインプロセスと操作手順を考慮してください。」と直訳する方が、まだわかるのではないか。。。
この different は、different from other products の意味なので、「特徴的な」とする方がいいかも。いや、それとも、「ログインプロセスと操作手順が他とは異なることを考慮してください。」かな。
