OpenOffice.org (English will follow)
日本ユーザー会のみなさんと、7 月に Collaboration しました。何かというと、OpenOffice.org 2.3 のメッセージとヘルプの更新です。OO.o JA の translate@ja.openoffice.org という ML に協力をお願いしてみたところ、4 日間という短い期間だったにも関わらず、5 名の方が次々に手を挙げてくれて、あっというまに査読を終えてくれました。
ワード数は全体で 7000 words 程度、そのうち 50% を Sun が査読し、50% を日本ユーザー会の翻訳班のみなさんが査読してくれました。
プロジェクト進行はこんな感じで進みました。
協力依頼をして手順を書いたのは私ですが、実際の作業はすべて翻訳班で行われました。その素早い対応とコメントの正確さに驚きました。翻訳コーディネータの平野さんには、細かくフォローしてもらえて助かりました。みなさん、本当にありがとうございました。
English translation:
I've enjoyed collaboration with OpenOffice.org JA User Group in late July. We reviewed OpenOffice.org 2.3 translation update for UI messages and Online Help. The total volume was 7000 words appx. and we shared review half and half between Sun and OpenOffice.org Japanese translation team, ML - translate@ja.openoffice.org.
The plan has just been firmed and I posted "Please Help" to the translation ML a couple of days before the review starts. With such a short notice, however, five members raised their hands and completed the review perfectly on schedule.
The review project proceeded in this way:
I cannot express how I was impressed by their prompt action and accurate/excellent review comments. Actually, I did not anything but asking for help by writing wiki page to share the process. Kazunari Hirano, supported the process greatly as a translation coordinator.

追記: なんだか、英語の方が感情的になってしまいました。しかも、内容あんまりあってないし... 英語で話したり書いたりするときって、英語の頭になってしまうんですよねぇ。
PS. I have to admit that I will be more emotional when writing or speaking in English. I tend to be more expressive both for the thought and emotion. In a word, I am not "translating" in my mind, but using another part of my brain and being "English speaker".
