My Nerd Score

I am nerdier than 79% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

Like a sheep following the bellwether. Or maybe like a lemming over the cliff. I just had to know. Can an old bloke still be a nerd? Judge for yourself.

I found the test frustrating. For some of the questions, I really wanted to check more that one box.

Try the test out for yourself, assuming you are one of the dwindling number of people left on this planet haven't taken it yet.

How to make a Volcano

I must have lead a very sheltered childhood. I never made a volcano with my Dad. Perhaps it's an American thing. As there are no volcanoes in England it's apparently not something that crosses the minds of parents or science teachers. Perhaps they didn't know how to make a volcano when I was growing up.

It's really easy to do. Here's what we did over the weekend. We took a plastic plate (the sort you use for picnics, children's birthday parties or BBQ's) and put a small glass jar in the middle (this was an old baby food jar). You cover the jar with PlayDoh and shape it like a volcano.

You then half fill the jar with baking soda. Add 4-5 drops of red food coloring. Then add a spoonful of vinegar. Repeat the last step each time your child gleefully exclaims "Do it again! Do it again!"
