Another Newspaper Interview
Last week, I spoke with a nice lady, Julie Sevrens Lyons, who is a reporter for the San Jose Mercury newspaper. I ended up being some of the quotable quotes in her piece on library book sales. (Note that you might need to register until this news becomes olds.)
I don't remember doing my Nicole Kidman impersonation and saying "to die for", but I guess it's possible. (I was starting to come down with a cold about that time, so my memory is a little hazy.) It's certainly true that the prices are great! In fact, at the Palo Alto Library booksale, in the bargain room, after 12:30pm, with Colonel Mustard, the prices are 25 cents for paperbacks and 50 cents for hardbacks. And a nickel for each magazine.
I was hoping that the article would have links to my blog where I've expounded on the value of library book sales before.

One of my very first blog posts back in 2004. Shows how passionate I am about library book sales, that this was one of the topics I wrote about in my brand new blog. - A Different Kind of Book Sale

This one describes the whole "Friends of the Library" Friday night experience at a Los Altos library book sale. - The Value of Library Book Sales

The one that compares prices, with the same books at Amazon (new and used). The newspaper article did use some of these price comparisons, so that's cool. - Exercising

I wrote this one (tongue firmly in cheek) after getting a good workout just buying books.
There are also two more links of a general nature:
- Book Sales in America

With a link to the site that tells you where all the book sales are going to be. - The Ever-Changing Book Buying Process

Describes how my whole philosophy of book buying has changed over the last few years.
Oh well, you can't have everything. It's just great to be in the paper. This has now been two times in under a year. The previous time was for the San Francisco Chronicle. The article there on corporate blogging quoted me on road kill. Another highlight of my career.
Just like for the Chronicle last year, I went out last Saturday and bought the print version of the newspaper. It's a rare occurance that I actually buy the physical version of a paper now. The previous time was when I was murdered in the suburbs of Sydney Australia in 1990. Okay, it wasn't me. It was another Richard Burridge, but it was still kind of creepy to read, and definitely something for the heirloom chest.
So what will be the next paper looking for my words of wisdom in one of their pieces? The Wall Street Journal next to The Donald on finance? Maybe People magazine alongside Brad and Angelina discussing parenting tips? More likely it'll be the National Enquirer next to Elvis on the weird and the wacky.
