Birthday Party Shots

A couple shots from Duncan's sixth birthday pool party yesterday. This first one taken by my wife, early into the afternoon celebrations. A small number of kids frolicking gently. I'm not quite sure what the boy in the blue circular inflatable ring is trying to do. I don't think he was drowning. My wife certainly didn't mention it.

Over time, more kids were introduced into the water and the atmosphere got a lot rowdier.

This second one, taken after about 2 hours of intense hysterical excitement. If you look closely, you can see the sheer exhaustion setting in on Duncan face as he prepares himself for blowing out all the soon-to-be-lit candles in one go. I'm still trying to master this digital camera, so you're lucky that it's in focus, let alone the shot I was really trying to get.

For cake connoisseurs, it's a Baskin and Robbins Scooby Doo ice cream cake, with strawberry ice-cream inside.

The party went on for about 30-45 minutes longer than we intended. Even with us cleaning up around them, some kids and their mothers do not have the "take a hint" gene, so we had difficulty getting everybody out of the water.

Maybe for your next party you shouldn't even let the guests in the house. Just have them leave the presents in the driveway and leave.
