Doggie Dining
|
As most dog owners will attest, their pet is always looking for something more interesting to eat than that boring bowl of kibble you put out twice a day. |
Whenever we sit down at the dining room table for a meal, there's Dusti, giving me the Stare of Power, hoping that I'll give her something off my plate (especially if it's chicken).
Now that I'm working from home, during the week at lunchtime, I'll make myself a salad. Just like some pets can detect a can opener being operated from two miles away, our dog knows the moment I open the fridge door, and comes bounding out from wherever she was and patiently waits, because she knows I'll drop a couple of chicken pieces her way. It's the same thing in the evening with cheese.
It's the special doggie treats that are the best. I've already mentioned about greenies. The other treat she really likes is the one shown in the video above, that looks like a long hard reefer (or so I've been told, never having seen one myself). What impresses me the most is how she holds it between her front paws as she grinds away at it. Within thirty minutes it's usually gone.
When we first gave her this treat, we got overly worried during the last five minutes, because she has this piece that you are convinced is going to get stuck in her throat. Nothing to fear though. She'll just keep wearing it away until it's disappeared.
