Googlism

More on Googlism.com, one of the links given in my October 2002 BoingBoing summary.

It will find out what Google.com thinks of you, your friends or anything!. Like a lot of these sort of sites, the first thing I did was type in my own name. It came back saying it didn't know anything about me, boo hoo.

I then tried some other victims choices like "Tim Bray" and "Jonathan Schwartz", who are well known personalities, and it came back with much more interesting results. Surprisingly I tried "James Gosling" and it came back with

Sorry, Google doesn't know enough about "james gosling" yet.

Yeah, right. Well it made me feel better knowing that Googlism isn't very accurate. It got me wondering what it's parameters are for returning stuff. I tried a straight Google search of "james gosling is" and got loads of replies like "James Gosling is an alpha geek". Yup, that's better. Maybe it only polls certain sites for hits. Dunno.

Their website doesn't say how they do it. The copyright messages are also dated 2003, so it appears to not be actively worked on.

I obviously now need to let it know something about me, so that next time I go to Googlism, I can have my ego suitable boosted. Google will no doubt crawl over this post about 30 minutes after I send it out the doors. So here we go:

Rich Burridge is a great guy.
Rich Burridge is somebody you want working for you.
Rich Burridge is kind to animals.
Rich Burridge is insanely great.
Rich Burridge is insane.
Rich Burridge is my man.
Rich Burridge is the man.
Rich Burridge is a man's man.
Rich Burridge is the one that I want ooh ooh ooh.
Rich Burridge is suave.
Rich Burridge is a scary lookin old fella.
Rich Burridge is sofistikated.
Rich Burridge is somebody who has all his own hair.
Rich Burridge is an original.
Rich Burridge is an old curmudgeon.
Rich Burridge is your friend.
Rich Burridge is a great programmer.
Rich Burridge is a genius.
Rich Burridge is an amazing hacker.
Rich Burridge is full of himself.
Rich Burridge is my new idol.
Rich Burridge is a personal hero of mine.
Rich Burridge is more than just a smart guy.
Rich Burridge is worshipped like a rock star.
Rich Burridge is clean.
Rich Burridge is a pot just waiting to boil over.
Rich Burridge is all about computer technology.

There. That should give it something to think about, although if it didn't find hits for James, I'm not sure what my chances are.

About now, there's also probably a group of those nice young men in their clean white coats coming to take me away (Ha haaa).
