Life's Little Secrets
|
Every now and then, the old man gets to impress his son with something that us adults take for granted. I get a nice warm feeling inside and Duncan get's to go "Wow! That's Amazing", when really it's just one of those things that I must have picked up from my Dad at some time. |
The latest occurance happened yesterday. Over the weekend we'd been to the Palo Alto Library book sale and they were giving away posters in the children's room. Duncan grabbed one and we bought it home.
It had been wrapped up with an elastic band so it wasn't lying flat. Yesterday morning he was trying to fix that. "I know a little trick", I said and proceeded to roll it up the other way (sort of inside out). After I'd unrolled it again, it was almost flat. This impressed him no end.
Of course, it's all a matter of degree. Magicians make a living out of doing a similar thing to us adults all the time.

Like you I love how the ordinary things in life are amazing magic to my kids, but they grow up, and even now they are just starting to loose the magic... It takes work to keep it,
