- Walter Bender Resigned from One Laptop Per Child!
"Apparently, rumor has it that Nicholas Negroponte is close to abandoning Sugar and Linux in favor of Microsoft XP, to spur sales of the XO laptop. Negroponte thinks that many more laptops need to be sold and a partnership with Microsoft is the way to achieve that goal.

FFS how the heck would using windows XP instead of linux push things in the right direction?
That OS is damn slow and it will increase the cost of the "product".
I didn't liked sugar that much, i suggest using XCFE or some other well known DE that is lightweight/fast.
(I know that sugar was based on XCFE, just didn't find it so great / appealing at all).

I would presume if this does happen that
Negroponte would do a deal with Microsoft
where the latter were close to giving it
away for them to use.
