Sun Microsystems India Pvt. Ltd. organized a cricket match and invited our esteemed customer's along with their family for a fun filled evening with our Chief Guest Sir Dilip Vengsarkar. Cricket in itself is a religion in India and playing under flood lights is a dream come true for most of us.

It was a perfect weather at Police Gymkhana, Marine Lines, Mumbai facing the Queens Necklace and the ground flood lights were awesome. It was a perfect evening for the game.

We had a great response from customer's and turnout was tremendous across the industry from Banking and Finance, Telco, Manufacturing, Retail, GEH and SMB segment.

It all started with Sir Dilip Vengsarkar addressing the crowd and distributing jersey to the team player's. Two team's were named Jupiter and Victoria Falls for obvious reason with the launch of SPARC64 VII+ (code name - Jupiter+) this month on M-Series Systems and 1.6GHz T2 & T2+ CMT based Processor (code name - Victoria Falls) last quarter on T-Series Systems.

Victoria Fall's(VF) captain won the toss and forced Jupiter to bat first. The pitch was having a little bit of grass on it. VF bowler's started with some wides before they got the line and length correct. Jupiter had 81 runs on board after the completion of their 12 overs of quota and set a target of 82 for VF.

Mr. Mantra from Red FM was hosting the event and during the course of the match gave some really witty commentary on the game which added to the overall entertainment. He also had an opportunity to interview some great Industry Leader's during the course of the fame. With mid-session break, Mantra had planned for some fun with kids and family member's of our customer's.

Back to the game, VF started with some bad shorts and had lost 3 quick wickets during the second session of this game.

Mayur and Vaibhav on the crease and Jupiter right on top of the game came the turning point and the uncertainty of the cricket again got its meaning. Mayur and Vaihav were able to crack some huge sixes - Mayur got 2 of those sixes on the leg side and Vaibhav a huge six on the Off Side(this one a difficult for a Right Hand Batsman and was my favorite shot for this tournament) and VF smell's victory. This was sheer entertainment and crowd loving it! These two guys were also the star player of the tournament. With some great shots from the VF's team and some catch misses(the one I remember was the one dropped by Mami - I sympathise with Mami as I guess it was very high rise and straight through the Flood Lights!)

Team Victoria Falls won convincingly in the 9th over. We loved it , customer's loved it and everyone carried sweet memories and an evening to talk about. Trophies were presented to the Best Batsman, Player of the Tournament , Best Bowler, Runner's Up Captain and Winner's Captain.

Personally, I was happy for VF winning the Sun Premier League 2009 (SPL) Trophy because I am a CMT Product Specialist for India and Victoria Falls is a processor(8 cores each with 8 threads and scalability upto 4 sockets which gives 256 hardware threads in a 4Rack Unit with lots of World Record Benchmark Performance) in our CMT T-Series Systems. Note that we have very great M-Series benchmark which host Jupiter processor's and can scale upto 64 sockets (256 cores) in a single system and are the systems providing MainFrame Class Features. Sir Dilip Vengsarkar presented the Winner's Trophy to the VF's Captain (What an Honor for the winning Captain from VF). Sir Dilip Vengsarkar gave some witty comments during the presentation ceremony followed by Mr. Kapil Sood (Corporate Director & Country Head - Systems Business, Sun Microsystems India Pvt. Ltd.) sharing SUN's Innovation and how it have helped customer's solve their Key Business Problems. Presentation Ceremony was followed by Dinner and Drinks.

Overall, it was a memorable evening and fun time spent with our Esteemed Customers and their family members.
