Safari on Windows?

Huh?  Can someone explain why ??  Safari is such a crappy browser to begin with.  Why would anybody want to use it at all?

UPDATE: The first comment received was "First step to iLife on Windows" and that's kind of where I am with it.  As a mac user I'm having fear that Apple is getting distracted by the huge income they get from iPods/iTunes, and potentially huge income from the iPhone, that they're going to ditch OS X and focus on their real money maker(s).

But then I found A Suggestion for Apple in 2007 which suggested, last January, that they release Safari on Windows.  That it would give Windows users a peek into the life of Mac users, and it would give web developers who use Windows a reason/capability to test their web sites on Safari.

Hurm.. The first reason is suspicious to me.  I know dozens and dozens of Mac users who ignore Safari because it sucks.  So, Safari is not a very good demonstration of the life of Mac users.  The second reason works pretty well for me.  Maybe web sites would more often work well in Safari if the web developers suffering from using Windows were able to test their sites on Safari.  Hurm...

A random idiot who doesn't use Safari on Mac wonders why Safari on Windows is anything important. Check back in a year.

Easy. IPhone 3rd party apps will be safari based. They want Windows developpers to have an easy way to develop and test their app. They want large businesses to issue iPhones to their sales forces and have apps to link them to the in-house systems. Therefore they need an easy way for a windows shop to get an app up&running on the iPhone, which means being able to test it on a windows machine. Not so stupid a move, heh ?

As a long-time Firefox user, the primary reason I still use Firefox over Safari is for the extensions...especially Adblock. Now if Safari can block ads like Firefox+Adblock, I'm make Safari my default. Other than that, Safari is a great browser.

Many mac users I know do NOT even use safari. And in some parts of the world, a mobile browser (Opera Mini, a Java ME browser) actually has a larger marketshare than that pos. http://blueboard.com/smalljava/archives/61

It is a way to remove IE dominance. How much you want to bet that iTunes v8 for Windows will require you to install iTunes, Quicktime, plus Safari? iTunes killed PlaysForSure and other attempts by MS to corner the digital audio market; QuickTime stopped Windows Media Player from taking over, and Safari will further reduce IE market share, in combination with FireFox.

People still use Windows? Wow... no really... I thought all the smart people dropped that horrible OS like the bad experience it is and moved on to bigger and better things like OSX and Linux.
