Sun Identity Manager ActiveSync with OpenDS
The innovative folks on the OpenDS project are also paying attention to compatibility with existing DSEE applications. Niiice.
One useful DSEE feature used by Sun Identity Manager (SIM) is the retro changelog. SIM uses the changelog to pick up ActiveSync events from DSEE and up till now, while for example reconciliation worked fine against OpenDS, the changelog in OpenDS was not quite as compatible as SIM required.
With this version 2.3 nightly build of OpenDS however SIM can start to use the changelog for Active Sync. Whilst this is not as yet an officially supported ActiveSync usage, this is very useful for developing SIM customizations against an LDAP repository, for demos or POCs and so on.
To enable the changelog you need to enable the server for replication:

Here is a screen shot showing a create event arriving in the SIM (8.1.04) IDE. Both the LDAP Adapter and Connector pick up the event successfully. Caveat: I have not tested all the event types.
It looks interesting, and I should point Mamisoa on your blog.
Also, let us know if you've the opportunity to test the other event types.
Cheers !
