Early Sunrise and 24-Hour Construction
Well, according timeanddate.com, sunrise in Beijing was at 4:48 am this morning. Although that may indeed be the case, with the diffused light caused by the fog/sand/whatever in the air, it has been light enough to see outside since around 4 am.
Coupled with the 24-hour construction on the street as the State Grid digs tunnels for new power lines, this means that I'm not having a wondrous and joyful sleeping experience.
If only Leo hadn't decided that my earplugs were his to chew...
Oh, well, I feel another trip down to Watson's coming-up.
Is that all related to the Olympics? How easy is it to get tickets to events?

I've been enjoying this same pleasant experience in Tianjin lately. With the added bonus that the building being erected next to my apartment is largely constructed by night crew.

@havingmycake... there is certainly a lot of activity in Beijing right now in preparation for the Olympics. That said, as noted by Chris L, the building boom is spread through much of China.
This reminds me in many ways of the Alphabet agencies that FDR put together during the 1930's:

with more similarities to the WPA than the others... except on a greater scale and, of course, with a burgeoning economy and not one in a depression.
As to the Olympic tickets, I think there were something like three lotteries for residents of China. I was able to get a couple. I'm not sure how difficult they are to get for those who don't live in China.

Get a computer generated white noise software. It masks everything. Alternatively, there are dedicated devices for white noise generation. I got one...
