One of the fun things about Project Sun SPOT is that it allows software programmers a chance to reach out and touch the real world. Its a chance to step away from the keyboard mouse and screen and program the world around you. For some this is a transformational experience. Its just the nudge they need to start bridging the gap between hardware and software.

One of our users, javapda, seems to be going through such a transformation in a rather public way. I don't know his background, but looking at his blog and his many YouTube videos, it's clear that he is having a lot of fun a learning quite a bit. I think its fantastic that he is letting the rest of us learn with him. The result is a great little project he has started on Java.net called SpotCara. He's been quite active on the Sun SPOT forums getting advice from other developers and then going off and building things. He's gone from blinking a few LEDs to designing and fabricating his own circuitboards. It's all very much in the style of my current favorite publication, Make Magazine. I don't know who this fellow is, but I think it is really great that he is sharing the whole process with anyone who cares to join him on his journey. I recommend taking a look and watching as it develops. It can be inspiring. Who knows, you may even be inspired to pitch in and help him out with his project.

So, thanks javapda, whoever you are. Keep up the good work!
