Flock a Web 2.0 browser, packed with social software tools was released a few days ago. Well, the term 2.0 was the key !!. I was so excited about this and went ahead and downloaded the browser just to see whats in store in the future to come.

The Flock website also had the bold statement
ain't for the faint of heart! If you're the bleeding-edge type and don't mind a few scrapes and busted knees from time to time, feel free to give it a whirl."
Well, surprises, surprises... What I saw was..
- port of Mozilla's FireFox codebase
- meek del.icio.us integration
- rss feeds that did'nt outbeat Google's feed reader
- blog integration which was nothing but a simple integration of every blog software's existing API.
Well, I am not trying to say that the folks at flock have done a half-hearted job, but from my perspective, it's no different than firefox with a few extensions preconfigured. I expected a lot more than that. First impressions count; and my tipoff to the folks @ flock would be to make their next release shock us all. They could even name the next release as flockshock; and here are a few things I'd like to see integrated..
- Map24
- jlGui
- ChatPoint
- BlogBridge
- eBay
- PayPal
- LimeWire
- Airport Monitor
- & lots lots more...
As of now I have uninstalled flock, just because there's no compelling reason to use it in lieu of FireFox. (for now...)
I am not much of a microsoft fan, but integrating this with flock or vice versa as well could be a good start.
