Dr Who

The first episode of Dr Who was always going to be difficult. Dr Who is so much part of my childhood that it had such a large hill to climb to live up to episodes from the '70s. For me I thought it was good, not great but I'll be watching again next week. Watching my kids I think it was more frightening than they cared to admit and they were riveted to it. It is times like this I want to ask my Dad whether he really enjoyed watching Dr Who with us when I was a child because the TV was good or just because he enjoyed being with us watching it. Alas I will never know.

I liked the touches of having a monster that harked back to the original, but they were not constrained by the original. The one thing I really missed was the cliff hanger endings, however I suspect that will reduce the nightmares so perhaps that is more parent friendly.

I strongly suspect we will be watching it again next Saturday.
