NetBeans 4.1 Final Release is Out!

You can download it from here:

http://www.netbeans.info/downloads/download.php?type=4.1

It's time to celebrate for everybody at NetBeans. I personally have a good feeling about the release, next to the usual testing I've been lately using it intensively for creating demos of many new features. My experience was that the IDE is very stable and I could work well with features which I didn't know before. Which is good because the 4.1 release could attract lots of developers who didn't use NetBeans before.

My big surprise were the J2EE and webservices parts, I was expecting hard times with both technologies (as I knew them from the past) - and it was relatively easy to work with them. I could create a web service client which connects to the Google API and performs a search in several minutes.

While the 4.1 release looks good, I have the feeling we need to move on - there's a lot of work ahead of us. On the other hand this is not the NetBeans as I remember it before joining the team - 3.6 looks so crappy compared to the slick 4.1. The improvements are really visible and I think that NetBeans is on the right path now. The future is bright ;-)
