hey Roumen! i've been on your blog for awhile now but it's the first time I make a comment ;) I'm a canadian Java enthusiast amoug with Collin doering ( he was on the NetBeans page in September 2005 for being the youngest NetBeans user :P) Well, I've watched your presentation ( in fact all that you've made ;) ) about Netbeans 5.5.. I'm very impressed :D... especally about mobilty pack because I did not know that we could use a webservice on a Mobile device it is really neat :) I would like to make a torrent watcher service ( checks my current torents completion status derictly from home :) ) so NetBean 5.5 mobility will be very usefull in that case. Do you have any good refernces about webServices and mobility ? Any help would be appreciated :) And if you ever meet Roman Gary from swing team say hi, and tell him that we , here in canada, are looking forward the release of SwingX components:) Well enough chit chat now :) Take care Laurent ( A big fan of your blog that wishes to see Netbeans tour come to Montréal someday)

Hi Laurent, greetings to Canada! I remember Collin - we chat over ICQ from time to time. I am glad you liked my presentations... don't watch them too much, they can be dangerous for mental health (just joking :) Lukas did an end2end demo of web services and mobility so check it out. There are other documents on netbeans.org, search the articles area. I know Romain Guy - we met before, I will say hi to him if I meet him again :) I hope to come to Montreal someday, but honestly I wish we rather had NetBeans days on some tropical islands, hehe.

Hi Roumen, The demos are great and I think one more thing you may help to make, is a demo for cdc web service development within netbeans. I'm new to java me and have found quite a few great demos/tutorials for midp web services. But for cdc, it's really a hard time for me to keep searching and trying, but unlucky me, just can't get any complete working demos or tutorials for me to get a successful start. But anyway, NB55 is really cool! Great job of you guys...

I plan to do a demo for CDC, too - I discussed that with the mobility guys before. Hopefully I can get to it during this or next month, I am quite busy :) Gringo, you can download the presentation for offline viewing from here. Cheers!

Read good java books, e.g. Thinking in Java from Bruce Eckel (3rd edition is available for free). Read articles about NetBeans on netbeans.org, watch the flash demos... what else? Listen to java podcasts, read many books, write lots of code, read code other people write and you'll improve ;)
