NetBeans 5.5 Released and netbeans.org Has a New Look!

NetBeans 5.5 has been released and you can get it now from netbeans.org! The site has been redesigned and has a brand new look, which I personally find very pleasing. The download experience has been simplified, too.

How do you like the new design?

NetBeans 5.5 introduces many new features both in the IDE and in the packs. You get:
I will blog more details about the new features and we'll record a special episode of NetBeans podcast with NetBeans evangelists who just all gathered in Prague. Also stay tuned for a flash preso for NetBeans 5.5... just finishing it now, so it will go live at Javalobby soon.

Time for celebrations... NetBeans 5.5 is out!

Great! Thanks! I can start the new week with new IDE ;) I'm moving from Eclipse to Netbeans and I was waiting for this release ;)

Great ! Hapy Birthday NetBeans ! The new design rocks ! Netbeans is just becoming more and more comprehensive, can't wait for the final release of 6.0, the snapshots of the future editor are quite impressive !! Oh, I almost forgot but needless to say that the VWP tech preview is mind blowing.
Thx for this gift, long live NetBeans !

Roman: Maybe a flash demo of the CDC Pack w/Matisse will convince more people out there ;)

Good idea, I could do some demo with Matisse + CDC and SVG support looks also great. I've seen a live demo by Petr and SVG in mobility pack rocks :)

Congratulations! I like the new page design! When the final VWP will be released?

Hi, Roumen The CDC download page displays this: NetBeans Mobility Pack 5.5 for CDC Beta 2 installer It seems that the CDC isn't final.

The new homepage looks nice but it's spilled in Opera :(. I already contacted the webmaster... And now to download the brand new NetBeans IDE :).

...oh, looks like they fixed it right now :).

Thanks Claudiu, you're right and I fixed it.

Hi! Why there is no Mobility Pack for Mac OS X? Thanks, T.

Posted by Tomas on říjen 30, 2006 at 02:44 odp. CET #

Amazing, I'm so happy that I can smell my own tears ;) Roumen, isn't it time for another great episode of the NetBeans Podcasts? Waiting eagerly...

I got a "Error Nothing found." page when I click the "Download NetBeans IDE" button. ???

UML is OUT ! , and this is very bad news :(

Posted by Dyego Souza Dantas Leal on říjen 30, 2006 at 09:12 odp. CET #

Don't panic, UML is available on the update center. The downloads seem to work for me... can you try again? Hopefully that was a temporarily glitch. We'll do the podcast later on during next week. I am not sure about mobility pack on Mac, I'll try to find out. I think it might be an emulator issue.

The new look of netbeans.org is simply awesome Roumen. Kudos to the designers. They rock!
